We are making fruit kebabs for our design technology project so will be testing different fruits to find out which are our favourites!

PARENT INFORMATION SHEET
(Year one summer term)
READING : Try to read with your child every day. Please encourage your child to look at and read books other than their reading scheme one.
NUMBER: Practise quick number bonds to ten. (to twenty if your child is ready)

e.g.2+8 4+6 16+4 e.t.c.
Encourage your child to add coins when shopping, to look at prices and to try and work out change.
We will be working on capacity using litres and millilitres, measuring, pouring using water and bottles.
This term we also consolidate work on time, including o’clock and half past. Encourage your child to look at clocks and watches and talk to them about the times that they are doing regular daily activities ( e.g swimming lessons, lunchtime, waking up, bed time)
SCIENCE: Our topic this term is minibeasts. We will be investigating the habitats of different insects. Looking at them closely to find out about their body parts. Looking at what they do and why.
R.E: We are reading stories about Jesus healing the deaf mute and Jairus’s daughter. The feeding of the five thousand. Looking at the Bible stories of Isaac, David and Samuel as children. The story of St. Francis and St. George.
HISTORY: Stories about Welsh people from the past including Jane Pritchard, Susan Rees and Gelert.
GEOGRAPHY: Comparing localities Magor and Tenby.

WELSH: Welsh phrases, I want and I like. Be able to say where they live and where they go to school. They also now ask for the toilet in welsh and for a drink and for any equipment they need.
