Year 2 Trip to St. Fagans

On 9th May, Year 2 went to the Museum of Welsh Life, St. Fagans. This was part of their history work this term, looking at school life in the past.

We went in to the Maestir School to experience what it would have been like in a school during Victorian Times.

We sat in rows, girls on one side, boys on the other.
We talked about the high windows which stopped the children looking outside.

We looked at the ink pens and slates that the children would have used.
We also saw how the teacher stopped children from writing with their left hands!!!
| We used the authentic artefacts that can be found in the school. There was a "Welsh Not" worn by children who spoke Welsh in class. This meant that the last person wearing it at the end of the day was severly punished! |

No Magic Key stories here!! We clicked the "clicker" to signal for children to read aloud...and a great story about a plum tree it was too!

We saw loads of other interesting things as we walked around the Museum.
We looked at the cottages to see how houses have changed over time.
